The Aim of the program
The aim of the program “E-commerce of traditional products, women 50+” is to encourage women older than 50 years old to take part in educational activities with the view to continuing producing their products in the same way, but according to the European legislation so that they could promote them in the wider European market using the E-commerce.
The program took place from October 2009 till September 2011 and included the creation and the adoption of innovative educational material, so as to develop the level of competitiveness in women of 50 +, who are the target group of the project.

Educational Seminars
During the program, women of 50 + attended pilot training seminars with a duration of about 200 hours, in the cities-partners of the program. 

  • Trikala (Greece)
  • Athens (Greece)
  • Karabaglar (Turkey)
  • Simitli (Bulgaria)
  • Alto Jonio (Italy)

In each country, groups that consisted of 10-15 women were created, and were taught the following topics:

  • E-commerce for traditional products
  • Distributing procedures of products through e-commerce
  • Basic computer skills
  • Main areas of the financial activity of a business
  • Promotion and merchandising of traditional products
  • Production of traditional products according to the E.U standards
  • Bio-products certifying procedures

Educational Material
The educational material created from this program, was based on innovation transfer from the existing educational programs of life-long learning together with adopting and combining the needs of the program and the common objective through proven and recognized experience and knowledge. Moreover, educational material was created to cover the educational needs both of the instructors and the learners.


The educational material comes in 6 languages (Greek, Italian, English, Turkish, Bulgarian and English) and it is available in hard copy from the partners of the program but also can be downoladed from the website www.e50plus.eu


E-shop of traditional products
Furthermore, for the needs of the educational seminars a demo e-shop for traditional products was created (http://shop.e50plus.eu/) through which the learners were taught in real time the art of promotion and selling of the products through internet. The e-shop is available to organizations and cooperative societies with the same objective immediately after the end of the program. Expected results

Reduction of unemployment among the target group (women 50 plus), who live in underdeveloped areas or belong to minority groups.

Reduction of migration of the population living in deprived areas.

Increase of employment opportunities for the younger members of local communities through such activities.

Upgrade of their economic and social level.

Maintenance of traditional production of local products.

Promotion of local tradition to residents of other regions of the country or Europe.

Production in accordance with EU regulations and biological products.
