Overview of the courses

Training on e-commerce for traditional products has developed through activities started on 18/01/2011 and completed 20/05/2011. It was decided, after careful evaluation, to establish three separate courses with lectures by experts in each field, so a selection was made after public announcement. The trainers being experts in the field with a good teaching experience in similar courses, was required only a brief description of the manuals included. The manuals and questionnaires, translated into English were treated graphically and printed by the staff of the institution.

The course was attended by initially 15 women with an average age between 47 and 52 years later, mainly because of the commitment on several days per week the number was reduced to about 10. The courses were held at the headquarters of the Comunità Montana Alto Jonio on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The presence at the courses has been verified, with special monthly records on which were recorded daily attendance of the participants in and out for a total of three and a half hours a day. Since April it has been decided to intensify the activities by extending it to all afternoons.

It was also carried out a verification of climate within the group through questionnaires given at the beginning and at the end of the courses. Almost all objectives were achieved: the participants have reached a good level of professional skills such as using e-mail, surfing the internet, but, above all, knowledge of the rules related to e-commerce. Some of the ladies have studied and created handmade products that were included on the site.

Evaluation of the pilot courses

The teachers were very appreciated by the participants, the manuals were understandable and suitable for the type of course and training. The only difficulties have emerged for the frequency as intensive courses have been given the shortness of the time allotted, also would be optimal to have a greater number of PC.

Evaluation of Trainers on  pilot courses

The trainer who has kept the basic course of E-Commerce has revealed that the teaching material is well structured and appropriate, but noted the need to integrate some parts such as the part concerning the online activities could be enriched by practical cases, also on the part of European legislation should have references to fiscal and tax aspects.

The trainer who has held the pilot course "Basic PC Training" felt, given the interest of the participants, to integrate with video presentations and media relations and accentuated the need to have a larger number of PC.
